How to set up your LinkedIn NFC card

Make every introduction easier to continue on LinkedIn.

Black Goodword LinkedIn NFC tap card for business networking

Your card arrives ready to use. We program the LinkedIn profile link you provide before dispatch. When the card arrives, test it once, place it where you meet customers, partners or prospects, and you are ready to turn a conversation into an easy profile visit.

Quick start

  1. Test it. Unlock your phone, tap the Tap Here area and confirm the correct LinkedIn profile opens.
  2. Place it. Use reception, the counter, your desk, an event table or another natural networking touchpoint.
  3. Tap + connect. The visitor taps, opens your LinkedIn profile and chooses Connect or Follow.

Opens your profile · Rewritable NFC · No battery — Card: acrylic · 117 x 128 mm · black or white · flat card, no stand included

How to tap the card

The phone reads the NFC link and opens the LinkedIn profile. Depending on the phone, it may open in the LinkedIn app or in the browser.

  1. Wake the phone. Unlock or wake the screen.
  2. Tap the card. Hold the NFC area of the phone close to Tap Here.
  3. Open + connect. Tap the notification, confirm the profile, then choose Connect or Follow.

On iPhone

iPhone XR / XS and later: hold the top of the phone near the card. iPhone 7 / 8 / X: open NFC Tag Reader first, then tap.

On Android

Make sure NFC is switched on. Hold the back of the phone near the card and tap the notification.

Placement that creates connections

Put the card where a professional conversation is already happening or just ending.

  • Reception. For visitors, suppliers and partners.
  • Your desk. Easy follow-up after a meeting.
  • Events. Use at stands, conferences and networking.
  • Sales point. Connect after a good customer interaction.

Make the profile worth connecting with. Before putting the card out, check your profile photo, headline, current role and About section. After a genuine meeting, a short personalized connection note can remind the person where you met and why you would like to stay in touch.

Link the card to LinkedIn

Use these steps if you want to link or re-link the card to a different LinkedIn profile.

Before you start

  • NFC-enabled smartphone
  • NFC Tools app
  • Your LinkedIn profile URL

Five steps

  1. Open your profile. Open LinkedIn and go to the exact personal profile you want the card to open.
  2. Copy your public URL. In LinkedIn, open your profile and find Contact info / Public profile URL. Copy the link - it normally starts with linkedin.com/in/.
  3. Add it in NFC tools. Open NFC Tools → Write → Add a record → URL / URI, paste the copied LinkedIn profile link and confirm.
  4. Write to the card. Tap Write, then hold your phone over the area marked Tap Here until writing completes.
  5. Test + connect. Close the app, tap the card normally and confirm the correct profile opens. Check that the visitor can choose Connect or Follow.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens

Wake the screen, remove a very thick case and move the phone slowly over Tap Here. Android: check NFC is enabled.

Wrong profile opens

Rewrite the card with the correct LinkedIn public profile URL. Test the link in your browser first.

Connect is not visible

Some profiles show Follow as the main action. On LinkedIn, the visitor can use More and choose Connect when available.

Card will not rewrite

The tag may have been made read-only. A permanently locked tag cannot be unlocked.

Before you lock the tag

Do not make the NFC tag read-only or permanently lock it until you have tested the link. A locked tag cannot be rewritten.

Good to know

  • Reusable: as long as the tag is not locked, you can change the LinkedIn profile link later.
  • Privacy: the NFC tag stores the LinkedIn profile URL you program; it does not store customer details.
