How to set up your Google review NFC card

Make leaving a review as easy as a tap.

Black Goodword Google review NFC tap cards for local businesses

Your card arrives ready to use. We program the review link you provide before dispatch. When the card arrives, test it once, place it where customers already finish their visit, and you are ready to start collecting genuine feedback.

Quick start

  1. Test it. Unlock your phone, tap the Tap Here area and confirm the correct review page opens.
  2. Place it. Use the counter, reception desk, bill tray, checkout or another natural customer touchpoint.
  3. Ask + tap. Ask for honest feedback. The customer taps, opens the notification and writes their review.

How to tap the card

There is no app to install. The phone reads the NFC link and opens the review page in the normal browser.

  1. Wake the phone. Unlock or wake the screen.
  2. Tap the card. Hold the NFC area of the phone close to Tap Here.
  3. Open the review. Tap the notification and leave your genuine feedback.

On iPhone

iPhone XR / XS and later: hold the top of the phone near the card. iPhone 7 / 8 / X: open NFC Tag Reader first, then tap.

On Android

Make sure NFC is switched on. Hold the back of the phone near the card and tap the notification.

Placement that gets used

Put the card at the exact point where you already finish serving someone.

  • Counter. At the till or payment point.
  • Reception. Beside check-out or handover.
  • Bill / table. Use where the customer settles.
  • Each branch. One card can point to each location.

Good review practice. Ask every customer for honest feedback. Do not offer a reward for a review or ask for a specific star rating. The card only makes the review page easier to reach - it does not influence what a customer writes.

Reprogram the NFC link

Only do this when you want the card to open a different page.

Before you start

  • NFC-enabled smartphone
  • NFC Tools app
  • Your new destination URL

Five steps

  1. Copy the new link. Copy the full page URL you want the card to open.
  2. Add it in NFC tools. Open NFC Tools → Write → Add a record → URL / URI.
  3. Paste + save. Paste the full link, including https://, and confirm the record.
  4. Write to the card. Tap Write, then hold your phone over the area marked Tap Here until writing completes.
  5. Test before use. Close the app, tap the card normally and confirm the correct page opens.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens

Wake the screen, remove a very thick case and move the phone slowly over Tap Here. Android: check NFC is enabled.

Wrong page opens

Rewrite the card with the correct URL. Test the link in your browser first.

Card will not rewrite

The tag may have been made read-only. A permanently locked tag cannot be unlocked.

Tap range feels weak

Avoid placing the card directly against metal surfaces, which can reduce NFC performance.

Before you lock the tag

Do not make the NFC tag read-only or permanently lock it until you have tested the link. A locked tag cannot be rewritten.

Good to know

  • Reusable: as long as the tag is not locked, you can change the destination later.
  • Privacy: the NFC tag stores the URL you program; it does not store customer details.
